New Artist Information
The mission of the AuSable Artisan Village is to initiate and support art and cultural activities that enrich lives, stimulate creativity, and serve as a catalyst for
artistic excellence throughout Northern Michigan.
Established in 2010, the AuSable Artisan Village Art Gallery is a non-profit co-op operated by an all volunteer director and staff. The varied backgrounds of the artists provides excellent networking opportunities as well as a great collection of art. All artwork is reviewed to ensure the quality of work meets our clientele’s expectations. Artists are expected to volunteer their time to support the ongoing activities of the gallery. Artists who live within 50 miles of the gallery are asked to help staff the sales desk at least two weekdays, or one weekend day, per month. Artists who volunteer in the Gallery have a higher success with sales.

How to Calculate Your Commissions
The gallery receives 40% of the sale; you receive 60%.
So, for a $200 sale, your commission would be $120.
200 x .60 = 120

Review Process:
- Submit 4-6 pieces of your best art work; include your contact information, retail price*, title of the piece
- Art work is juried by the Review Committee monthly
- Have your work in the gallery two or three days before the third Sunday of the month; ask the volunteer to place your work in the holding room
- If your work is not accepted you will receive an email notifying you to pick up your artwork. Work that is not picked up within three weeks of the email notification becomes the property of the gallery.
After Acceptance: (Art work will not be displayed until these requirements are met.)
- Complete the Artist’s Contract (attached)
- Complete the interest/ skills statement and checklist on the back of the contract. This will help us put your talents to the best use during your volunteer hours.
- Make a check payable to “AuSable Artisan Village Gallery” for the remaining portion of the calendar year at $10 per month (non-refundable).
- Provide a biography/artist statement along with three images that will be used by AAV to post on its website, Facebook, and create a link to the artist’s web page.
- The preferred method to provide this information is electronically. Send to [email protected] . This information can also be provided via CD or memory stick if I do not have email.
- At a minimum, artists will provide 100 cards or incur a $5 printing fee.
- Artists may choose to create and display a 5 ½ x 8 ½ biography/ illustration promotion of their work.
- Art Work is regularly reviewed based on sales. Artists who actively volunteer in the gallery have a higher success with sales.
